Debbie Steinberg-Kuntz
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Founder of Bright & Quirky
Topic: Give Your Child's Teacher a Headstart on How to Help
Links: Website
About Debbie: Hi, I’m Debbie Steinberg Kuntz, licensed marriage and family therapist and founder of Bright & Quirky. I’m really glad you’ve found us! When I started my family counseling practice a decade ago, I had no idea this would be my specialty. But my sons, now teenagers, had some unique strengths and challenges that I dove deeply into understanding.
I learned that they were ‘2e’ or ‘twice exceptional,’ meaning they are smart and also have unique brain wiring that makes accessing those smarts at times challenging. As I researched and found solutions for them, I started to share the learning with families in my private practice near Seattle. You may know that in the Seattle area, we have many highly skilled, uniquely wired people working for nearby high tech companies (i.e. Amazon, Microsoft). My practice includes many such families, eager for information on raising 2e kids. To meet the need, I created in-person support groups for parents raising 2e kids. Their kids are very bright and struggle with learning, executive function, social, emotional and/or behavioral challenges. Some have diagnoses such as ADHD, autism/Aspergers, anxiety, depression and learning disabilities like dyslexia.
